EVOLUTION OF THE DRINKING BOTTLE
The history of the drinking bottle is a history of progress - from heavy Glass containers about Aluminum to the "modern" plastic sports bottle.
Today, 99% of reusable sports bottles are made of PE or PP plastic. This is a very cheap solution and one that can potentially endanger our health.
Only with KEEGO this evolution reached a new innovative peak.

The initial situation:
Plastic bottles have been widely used in sport since the 1970s.
Particularly in cycling, they represented a major advance over the earlier aluminum bottles with their cork closures.
Better functionality was a clear driver for this change at the time.
The plastic bottle was lighter, more durable, safer, fitted better in the bottle cage and - most importantly - you could drink faster thanks to the squeezability. These advantages over a metal bottle were so massive that the metal bottle disappeared in sport.
Since then, plastic has begun its "triumphal march" into most areas of our lives. Better functionality and a better price - who can compete with that?
Today, you can get a standard plastic sports bottle for just €0.50 each. A dream, not only for every user but above all for every marketer! Because with a nice logo of a great bike brand, you can sell them for €20 and more.
Before developing the first KEEGO, we took a close look at the disadvantages of plastic sports bottles.

A multi-award-winning product emerged from an idea on a mountain tour - born out of the desire to no longer have to trade functionality for health and sustainability.
Why titanium - and how does it become elastic?
Titanium is considered the SUPERMETAL:

It is an exceptional material with a multitude of chemical, physical and mechanical advantages. It is chemically inert and therefore highly resistant to corrosion - it does not react with water, acids or other chemicals. As a result, it is absolutely tasteless, does not release any substances into liquids and has no effect on smell or taste. Titanium is non-magnetic and has excellent biological compatibility, which is why it is also used for medical implants. It is non-toxic, free from allergens such as nickel and therefore ideal for sensitive applications. Mechanically, it impresses with its high strength and very low weight - with a density of only around 4.5 g/cm³, it is around 45% lighter than steel. At the same time, it is dimensionally stable, heat-resistant (melting point: 1,668 °C) and has a particularly smooth surface with a non-stick effect, which prevents dirt from sticking. Titanium is extremely durable, shows hardly any material fatigue and is easy to recycle thanks to the targeted separation of its components.
This is why it is also used for medical implants where maximum purity and compatibility are required.
But: Titanium is not elastic by nature, but any metal is flexible if it is thin enough. This is exactly where KEEGO comes in with its innovation. A unique composite material has been developed to create a squeezable, sports-compatible bottle:
The inner layer consists of 100 % pure titanium.
Several outer layers provide the necessary flexibility.
These are determined using a complex, multi-stage process. permanently connected with each otherso that the titanium itself can be compressed is not damaged and always returns to its original form - for years!
The result: A flexible, durable bottle with an interior made of pure titanium - unique in the world.
Why is KEEGO cleaner than conventional plastic bottles?
Plastic bottles are made of elastic plastics that constantly release a certain amount of substances and chemicals into the liquid - including microplastics, plasticizers and other chemical compounds that have been proven to be harmful to health. This often manifests itself in the taste: anyone who has ever drunk stale water from an old plastic bottle will be familiar with the unpleasant aftertaste.
KEEGO therefore uses pure titanium as the inner material. Titanium is extremely chemically stable and does not release any substances into the contents - whether water or sports drink. It remains completely tasteless and clean - even under heavy use and high heat.
Plastics have a microscopically rough surface to which beverage residues easily adhere. These residues provide the perfect breeding ground for mold and bacteria - especially in drinks with sugar or fruit content. Even after rinsing, an invisible biofilm can remain.
Titanium, on the other hand, has a closed, smooth surface that is dirt-repellent and non-stick. This means that KEEGO bottles can be cleaned more quickly, thoroughly and hygienically, even without aggressive cleaning agents. This ensures a significantly better shelf life and a permanently clean drinking experience.
Recycling & Sustainability - KEEGO Refresh
KEEGO pursues the approach of a closed product cycle: If your bottle has served its purpose after many years of intensive use, you can return it to KEEGO or hand it in at events and trade fairs.
This is how recycling works:
- Titanium and plastic are separated by their different melting points (titanium: 1,668 °C).
- New KEEGOs are made from old bottles - resource-saving and efficient.
