Wait, wait. Let's take a step back here; what exactly is bikepacking?

In short, bikepacking is backpacking with a bicycle. It can be a short ride or a long one, but it should involve some form of overnight stay. It can be a single-track tour, an off-track tour, a dirt road, etc. In any case, the concept remains the same: it's you (+ your friends or crew), your backpack, bike, and the rest of your gear.

Okay, now we're getting closer to the whole thing. What tips do we have ready that we could share with you for your next bikepacking trip?

  • First, think carefully about where you want to go. The type of terrain is a crucial factor. This affects the weight you can bring, which ultimately affects your tires and air pressure. More weight - more air - more suspension pressure.
  • Get organized! That means, think about a tool and pack things in places where you can find them again. Above all, put them back there when you take them out on the go!
  • Dress for the occasion. Wear light and warm clothing and, for heaven's sake, don't forget your gloves.
  • Charge your electronics, bring chargers and power banks... and something to snack on! You never know when the snack madness will strike

Did you notice the little word "light" in our previous suggestion? That's right, being "light" on the go plays a crucial role in bikepacking. Which brings us to the next point, and actually the topic of this blog:

Which bottle is the best for your bikepacking trip?

The answer is simple. A bottle that is lightweight, easy to clean, can be used with one hand while riding, and ideally does not release any plastic particles into the water.

This is where KEEGO comes in. Not many bottles meet all of the above criteria, and how could they? It's super hard to meet two of them, let alone all of them.

But KEEGO is no ordinary bottle. We have designed and developed the world's first squeezable metal bottle. Let us tell you why this is important for your bikepacking trip:

A lightweight bottle reduces the weight on your long journey. That's important, quite obviously. Sorry stainless steel bottles.

A bottle that preserves the taste during long rides has a double effect - firstly, you don't have that nasty plastic taste in your mouth (we all know and hate it), and secondly, it has numerous health benefits (no BPA, BPS, plasticizers and microplastics in your water). You may not feel it in the first few days, but in the long run your body will thank you. So sorry plastic bottles... not.

A bottle that allows you to drink with one hand means you don't have to get off your bike or stop to drink on the go. You can ride non-stop. Of course, only if you want to. Sorry, to the stainless steel bottles.

And a bottle that maintains the temperature means that riding in warm and/or cold climates has no effect on your bottle's contents. However, we are not quite there yet. Not yet.

So, now you know the criteria for a good water bottle, what now?

Plan your stops! It is important to plan a few stops in advance to refill your bottle. This really depends on the route you take - it could be small towns or clean streams in nature. But definitely plan it! Hydration is half of your health and endurance.

Alright, we think you're ready for your first bikepacking trip! Stop by our shop and get your ideal bikepacking bottle, grab your gloves, charge your phone and off you go!

KEEP GOING.
