EVOLUTION OF THE WATER BOTTLE
The history of the drinking bottle is a history of progress - from heavy glass containers via aluminum to the "modern" plastic sports bottle.
Today, 99% of reusable sports bottles are made of PE or PP plastic. This is a very cheap solution and one that can potentially endanger our health.

The starting point:
Plastic bottles have been widely used in sports since the 1970s.
Particularly in cycling, they represented a major advance over the earlier aluminum bottles with their cork closures.

Better functionality was a clear driver for this change at the time.
The plastic bottle was lighter, more durable, safer, fitted better in the bottle cage and - most importantly - you could drink faster thanks to the squeezability. These advantages over a metal bottle were so massive that the metal bottle disappeared in sport. 

Since then, plastic has begun its "triumphal march" into most areas of our lives. Better functionality and a better price - who can compete with that?

Today, you can get a standard plastic sports bottle for just €0.50 per piece. A dream, not only for every user but especially for every marketer! Because with a beautiful logo of a great cycling brand, you can sell it for €20 or more.

Why titanium – and how does it become elastic?

Titanium is considered the SUPERMETAL:

It is an extraordinary material with a multitude of chemical, physical and mechanical advantages. It is chemically inert and therefore highly corrosion-resistant – it reacts neither with water nor with acids or other chemicals. This makes it absolutely taste-neutral, does not release any substances into liquids and does not affect odor or taste. Titanium is non-magnetic and biologically very well tolerated, which is why it is also used for medical implants. It is non-toxic, free of allergens such as nickel and therefore ideal for sensitive applications. Mechanically, it impresses with its high strength at very low weight – with a density of only about 4.5 g/cm³, it is around 45% lighter than steel. At the same time, it is dimensionally stable, heat-resistant (melting point: 1,668 °C) and has a particularly smooth surface with an anti-stick effect, which prevents dirt from adhering. Titanium is extremely durable, shows hardly any material fatigue and is easily recyclable through targeted separation of the components.

That's why it is also used for medical implants, where maximum purity and compatibility are required.

But: Titanium is not naturally elastic, but every metal is also flexible when it is thin enough. This is exactly where KEEGO comes in with its innovation. In order to create a squeezable, sports-suitable bottle, a unique composite material was developed:

The inner layer is made of 100% pure titanium.
Multiple outer layers ensure the necessary flexibility.
These are processed via a complex, multi-stage process permanently connected with each other, so that the titanium even when squeezed is not damaged and always returns to its original shape – for years!


The result: A flexible, durable bottle with an inner layer of pure titanium – unique worldwide.


Why is KEEGO cleaner than conventional plastic bottles?

Plastic bottles are made of elastic plastics that constantly release substances and chemicals into the liquid to a certain extent – including microplastics, plasticizers or other chemical compounds, which have been proven to be harmful to health. This is often reflected in the taste: anyone who has ever drunk stale water from an old plastic bottle knows the unpleasant aftertaste.

KEEGO therefore relies on pure titanium as the inner material. Titanium is chemically extremely stable and does not release any substances into the contents – whether it's water or a sports drink. It remains completely taste-neutral and clean – even under heavy use and high heat.

Plastics have a microscopically rough surface where drink residues easily accumulate. These residues provide the perfect breeding ground for mold and bacteria – especially with drinks containing sugar or fruit. Even after rinsing, an invisible biofilm can remain.

In contrast, titanium has a closed, smooth surface that is dirt-repellent and non-stick. This makes KEEGO bottles faster, more thorough and more hygienic to clean, even without aggressive cleaning agents. This ensures significantly better durability and a permanently clean drinking experience.


Recycling & Sustainability – KEEGO Refresh

KEEGO follows the approach of a closed product cycle: If your bottle is worn out after many years of intensive use, you can return it to KEEGO or drop it off at events and trade fairs.

How recycling works:

- Titanium and plastic are separated by their different melting points (titanium: 1,668 °C).
- Old bottles are turned into new KEEGOs - resource-saving and efficient.
