Looking back at mountain hopping 2024 – an adventure between heaven and earth

Sweat, adrenaline, moments of happiness and a natural backdrop that you won't forget. mountain hopping 2024 was more than a hike – it was a challenge, an adventure, a community experience. Three days, countless meters in altitude and new friendships shaped this unforgettable time.

Day 1: The first step into adventure

There was some tension in the air at the start. Unfamiliar faces that would turn into loyal companions in the days to come. The first kilometers gently led the newly formed group into the rhythm: a breathtaking view over the Traunsee, the fresh mountain air, the dull echo of footsteps on stony paths.

For participants of the easy 3-day route, the tour started in Scharnstein. With 14 km and 430 meters of altitude, the first section was a gentle introduction, passing the Scharnstein ruins and the legendary "beer fountain" before heading to Grünau in the Almtal. The more challenging route started in Gmunden and challenged the participants with 20 km and 750 meters of altitude. Stopping at the Grünbergalm, a cool drink with a view of the Laudachsee, and the first shared stories brought the day to a relaxed end.

Day 2: Pushing boundaries, feeling freedom

The second day put everyone to the test a little. Steeper climbs, strenuous passages - but fellow hikers became a team. Motivating calls echoed over the mountains, and they cursed and laughed together. The summit came closer, the effort was forgotten.

The participants of the 2-day route also embarked on the adventure and started in Grünau in the Almtal with a challenging ascent to the Hochsalm over 13 km and 840 meters in altitude. Meanwhile, the participants of the 3-day tours covered their next kilometers: The participants of the easier route mastered 10 km and 610 meters in altitude to the Hochberghaus, where a rustic hut with a cozy stop awaited them. The other group climbed the Hochsalm after 18 km and 870 meters in altitude.

Day 3: The final summit, the great emotion

Tired legs, but an indomitable will: The last day has dawned. The final
ascent.
It's this mix of exhaustion and euphoria that drives everyone. Every step
counts. The altitude demands, nature rewards.

On the last day, the participants mastered a distance of 6 km and 610 meters in altitude before arriving at the Hochberghaus - one last push, one last time growing beyond their own limits. Arriving at the Kasberg, there was cheering, hugging, and above all, amazement: at what each individual had achieved. And those who still had the strength did not miss the additional ascent to the Sepp-Huber Hütte before everyone gathered for the final meal at the Hochberghaus with a pan of Kasnocken and a well-deserved drink.

At the final dinner, they looked back: individualists had become a close-knit group.
