The best bottle for your bikepacking trip - an easy choice!
The year is 2021, Corona is still in full swing and countries are still not really opening up. And yet you feel the "Wanderlust" like never before.... Your bike misses you and you miss the great outdoors. We have a solution:
You go on a bikepacking trip!
Hold on, hold on. Let's take a step back here; what is bikepacking actually?
In short, bikepacking is a backpacking trip by bike. It can be a short ride, or a long one, but an overnight stay should be included in some form. It can be a single-track tour, an off-track tour, a dirt road, etc. In any case, the concept remains the same, it's you (+ your friends or crew), your backpack, bike and the rest of the gear.
Okay, now we're getting closer to the whole thing. What tips do we have to share with you for your next bikepacking trip?

- First of all, think carefully about where you want to go. The type of terrain is a crucial factor. This will affect the weight you can bring, which will ultimately affect your tyres and air pressure. More weight - more air - more suspension pressure.
- Get organised! That means think of a tool and put things in places where you can find them again. Above all, return them there if you take them out on the way!
- Dress for the occasion. Light and warm clothes and for heaven's sake don't forget your gloves.
- Charge your electronics, bring chargers and powerbanks.... And something to snack on! You never know when the snack craze will strike
Did you notice the little word "light" in our previous suggestion? That's right, being "light" on the road plays a crucial role in bikepacking. This brings us to the next point and actually to the topic of the blog:
Which bottle is the best for your bikepacking trip?
The answer is simple. A bottle that is light, easy to clean, can be used with one hand while riding and, in the best case, does not release any plastic components into the water.
This is where KEEGO comes in. Not many bottles meet all of the above criteria, and how could they? It's super hard to meet two of them, let alone all of them.
But KEEGO is no ordinary bottle. We designed and developed the world's first squeezable metal bottle. Let us tell you why it's important for your bikepacking trip:
A lightweight bottle reduces the weight on your long journey. That's important, quite obvious. Sorry stainless steel bottles.
A bottle that retains flavour during long rides has a double effect - firstly you don't have that nasty plastic taste in your mouth (we all know and hate it), and secondly it has numerous health benefits (no BPA, BPS, plasticisers and microplastics in your water). You may not feel it the first few days, but in the long run your body will thank you. So sorry plastic bottles.... not.
A bottle you can drink from with one hand means you don't have to get off your bike or stop along the way to drink. You can ride non-stop. If you want to, of course. Sorry, to the stainless steel bottles.
And a bottle that retains temperature means that driving in warm and/or cold climates will have no effect on your bottle contents. We're not quite there yet, though. Not yet.
So, now you know the criteria for a good water bottle, what next?
Plan your stops! It's important to plan a few stops in advance to refill your bottle. This really depends on the route you take - it could be small towns or clean streams in nature. But definitely plan for it! Hydration is half of your health and endurance.
All right, we think you're ready for your first bikepacking trip! Quickly check out our shop and get your ideal bikepacking bottle, find your gloves, charge your phone and let's go!
KEEP GOING.
